Sweet Apricot Spring: Face of the Day (FOTD)

Hello, my beautiful readers! Today I bring you a FOTD inspired by the delicate and sweet macarons I picked up this morning. Macarons are one of my favorite things in the entire world; just one bite transports you to a dainty Parisian cafe. I have no way of getting them where I live, so every time I go on vacation it’s always a little mission of mine to find a cafe or bakery that sells them. The soft orange color of the apricot macarons inspired me to do this fun spring-time look today and I thought I’d share it with you. Let’s get into it!

The first thing I did was apply my MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible Cover Foundation with a round, and fluffy foundation brush all over my face concentrating mostly on my nose and my forehead where I need more coverage to create a flawless and airbrushed finish. To conceal the dark circles around my sleep-deprived eyes I used the Covergirl Invisible Blemish Concealer and gently blended it in using my ring fingers.

On my eyes are various shadows from my trusty Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I love taking this palette with me when I travel because of its versatility. I applied a burnt pinky-peach shadow all over my lids, a medium brown in my crease, and then pressed a gold shimmery shadow over the brown just to add a little extra glamour. Finally I lined my eyes with a near-black eye-shadow and finished it off with black mascara.

To add some fun, spring color to this look I used a fluffy blush brush to apply the Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Peach Pop on the apples of my cheeks. This a gorgeous color to wear on your cheeks in the warmer months and it was works great for this look because it almost perfectly matches the color of my apricot macarons! I love wearing lip-gloss in the springtime, so of course this look would not be complete without a shimmery peachy-pink lip-gloss. I’m wearing the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Pango Peach (I did a full review on this gloss here).

I hope you all found this post enjoyable and helpful! Sorry for the delay in posting…being on vacation tends to make me a bit more lazy than normal. I hope you all are having a glorious Spring Break if you are on it, and even if you’re not I hope you’re having a lovely week! I’m going to go indulge in a few more macarons now. 😉 xoxo

Valentine’s Day! – FOTD, OOTD & more

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! I hope you all had a day full of sweets, love, and fun. For all my fellow single-ladies out there, don’t be sad that you’re single! Spend the day with family or friends, pamper yourself, treat yourself to some sweets, and have a super awesome girl’s night out! Although I am staying in tonight, I had a wonderful day spent with my mom and tonight I’m going to relax, eat some yummy food, and watch Valentine’s Day. Today’s post is going to include my makeup, OOTD, nails, my Valentine’s playlist, and some baking. Enjoy!

Starting out with my makeup, today my goal was to create a soft, rosy pink look that was feminine and classy. I tried to make my eyes look as if they were blushing. I used a pale pink shadow all over my lids, then applied a slightly darker pink going up into my crease. I blended this all together with the color Limit from my Naked 3 palette that is a warm brown blending shade with a pink undertone to it. I added a bit of a darker purple and pink on the outer parts of my lid then brought the pink down to my lower lash-line to balance the look. Using my Meybelline Masterprecise liquid liner, I lined my upper lash-line with a thin line and flicked it out slightly at the end to create and illusion of wider eyes. Finally, I added several coats of mascara. Of course on Valentine’s Day a girly pink blush is a must. I used Adored by Tarte which is a soft pink blush with flakes of glitter in it. I wanted to go more natural for my lips so I decided on wearing Achiote, again by Tarte, that is a natural pinkish red.

My OOTD was a slightly dressed up, but still comfortable and could also been worn more casual for an every-day sort of thing. My dress is a floral printed dress that I got a few years ago from Charlotte Russe. Over it I wore a bit of an over sized navy blazer from Maurices. My shoes are nude flats that have a bow and flower shaped cut outs on the toes that I got from Khols.

For jewelry, I wore a bunch of different bracelets that I got from various random places that I cannot remember and a silver cross ring from JCPenny.

My mom and I decided to go get our nails done. Stupidly enough, I forgot to look at the exact name of the polish, but I do know it was by Essie. It is a beautiful navy blue color with subtle silver glitter in it. The finish is very shimmery and pearlescent. I also got this elegant flowery design on my ring fingers.

My top songs that I have been obsessively listening to for the past week to get me in the Valentine’s spirit are “Today Was a Fairytale” by Taylor Swift, “I’m in the Mood for Love” by Jamiroquai & Jools Holland, and “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra covered by Maroon 5.

One of my Valentine’s traditions is to bake something for all my friends and family. This year, I decided to take a leap of faith and make my favorite treat in the world: a macaron. They came out surprisingly well! The taste was fantastic. Though they came out a bit chewy, that is something I can easily fix the next time I make them. I wrapped them up in bags and ribbon and gave them out to friends and family. (a whole post on these will be coming soon)

That’s all for my Valentine’s post. I hope you enjoyed! I am still a bit camera shy so I’m sorry if I look mega awkward in all the pictures. It’s kinda weird showing your face for the first time…anyway…Happy Valentine’s day to all! See you in the next post! xoxo

What were on your lips this Valentine’s Day? Do you have any V-Day traditions? Let me know in the comments!
