Cheers to the weekend!
I have been a dancer as long as I can remember. Being backstage getting your hair slicked back into the perfect bun, getting to wear the perfect bold red lip, and the butterflies fluttering around in your stomach is one of the most exciting and unique experiences you’ll ever have. Just thinking about it makes me pumped for my next performance!!
If you’re a dancer, or are into any type of performing arts, you’ll know all about the craziness of backstage and trying to get ready with all the hustle and bustle. When you’re little, you can just rely on your parents to help you, but as you get older you have to be organized all by yourself and have everything together. Over the years I have developed a set makeup routine that I use every show. I also have several products that are absolute MUST haves for shows. Now let’s get into it!
Flawless skin is essential when performing on stage. But, you also want something that is flattering with all the bright lights glaring on your face. My longtime favorite to achieve this is the Covergirl Smoothers Aquasmooth compact foundation. The coverage is full and amazing! I wear the color ivory (yes, I am that pale) and using just the sponge-like applicator it comes with I am able to make my face a flawless canvas. Even though it has SPF 15, it still photographs quite well and looks stunning in videos. This is a very heavy product, so I don’t ever use it outside of performances but it works the best for what I need it to! I highly recommend this to all performers out there!
I have used the same eyeshadow quad on my eyes for almost 3 years now. If they discontinue it I have no clue what I’ll do. The Maybelline New York Expert Wear quad in Chai Latte is my go to always. The colors are all very build-able so you can wear them both for a show or on an everyday basis. Add a primer, and these shadows are not going anywhere no matter how much you sweat on stage!
(it’s hard to see, but the top color is a nice, neutral shimmer color that works great to highlight or go all over the lid)
A good, bold red lip is a must for any show. I still haven’t found my holy grail color, but I have two that I layer over each other. On the bottom I use is the Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate lipstick in the shade 09. It’s a matte, classic red. On its own, it’s currently my favorite matte red. On the top and inner area of my lips I use the Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in the shade Are You Red-dy? This is an extremely bright red that you would not think to pair with the other color, but it works surprisingly well. I also have used this just on its own in shows for parts that are a bit flashier.

That’s all for this post! I hope you all are having a relaxing weekend and I hope this post was helpful! xoxo
Should I do a full post/tutorial on my stage makeup routine? Are any of you readers performers? If so, what are YOUR stage make up essentials?
